- SOIL: Start by preparing the soil in the planting area. Red Hot Poker prefers well-draining soil with a pH range of 6.0 to 7.5.
- SOW Sow the seeds indoors in late winter or early spring, 6-8 weeks before the last expected frost. Fill a seed tray with a well-draining seed-starting mix and plant the seeds about 1/8 inch deep.
- COVER: Cover the tray with plastic wrap or a humidity dome to create a greenhouse-like environment that will help the seeds to germinate. Place the tray in a warm, bright spot, and keep the soil moist but not waterlogged.
- LIGHT: After the seedlings have emerged, remove the plastic cover and move the tray to a bright area with indirect sunlight. Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged.
- REPOTTED: Once the seedlings have grown to a height of about 2-3 inches, transplant them to individual pots filled with a well-draining potting mix.
